Joye Lee McNelis went through successful surgery today to remove the mass in the upper left lobe of her lung. The Southern Miss head women’s basketball coach will stay in the ICU tonight and could go home as early as tomorrow or Friday. According to Assistant Coach Pauline Love, the doctor says he’s pleased with what he did and expects her to make a full recovery. Coach McNelis was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma back in February, but returned to the sidelines prior to the Conference USA tournament.
