Deltak edu, Inc., a leading provider of online higher education services, announces that members of its Academic Services team will lead a session entitled Fostering Better Instructor Presence in Online Programs this Friday, August 5th at the 27th Annual Conference on Distance Teaching & Learning in Madison, WI.
Community of Inquiry research shows that a higher degree of faculty engagement positively influences student satisfaction and retention. However, online faculty members often report a shortage of time and resources to engage their students. For the past five years, Deltak has been developing and testing methods of faculty engagement that are effective and efficient. This session will offer quick and easy solutions that establish impactful faculty engagement and drive results.
Program Development Managers Courtney Moke and Lauren Wright of Deltak will be leading the 10:00 AM session Friday morning. As Program Development Managers with Deltak, Courtney and Lauren work with colleges and universities to transition their on-campus programs to the online environment. The presentation draws on their deep experience training faculty who are often new to technology-mediated teaching and are looking for ways to engage effectively in an online class.
Courtney Moke has been a Program Development Manager with Deltak for over four years, focusing her efforts on quality course development and comprehensive faculty training. She served as a panelist at the 2011 IST Conference in February and teaches online courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
Lauren Wright has over 15 years experience in instructional design, management, and leadership. She has designed, produced, and managed the administration of course development for graduate programs in Nursing, Allied Health, Psychology, MBA, Teacher Education, Law, Criminal Justice, and others at over six universities.
The Annual Conference on Distance Teaching & Learning is recognized internationally for the quality and integrity of its program. Each year the conference provides an exchange of current resources, research, and best practices from around the world that are relevant to the design and delivery of distance education/training. The conference, which runs August 3-5, will host roughly 900 attendees, predominantly faculty and instructional designers, from over 400 organizations.
