Long recognized as a health care choice that is as safe for children as it is for adults, homeopathy is also an attractive option for the elderly because it is more affordable than traditional medicine and often does not require office visits.
Homeopathy's advantages for senior citizens are the focus of 2017 World Homeopathy Awareness Week (WHAW), which is underway this week. The National Center for Homeopathy (NCH), which represents the homeopathic community in the United States, is the U.S. organizer of WHAW.
World Homeopathy Awareness Week honors the birth and career of Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician recognized as the father of homeopathy. More than 40 countries are celebrating the week with free lectures, clinics, volunteer events, and other activities.
Homeopathy is a safe, gentle, and natural system of healing that works with the body to relieve symptoms and improve overall health. Homeopathic medications, known as remedies, are made from natural sources and are available over the counter in many grocery stores, drug stores, health food stores, and online. They are safe even for pregnant and nursing women and are administered in such small doses that they do not cause side effects.
NCH offers free webinars and other resources through its website, http://www.homeopathycenter.org. Of particular interest to seniors are these webinars:
- Homeopathy and Aging Adults
- Homeopathy: The Key to Resilience in Depression and Anxiety
- Bye-Bye, Back Pain
