The American Case Management Association (ACMA) and the National Board for Case Management (NBCM) are pleased to announce that Michelle Allen, RN, ACM-RN, IQCI, of Florida has been elected as the 2017-2019 Chair of the NBCM. Michelle Allen is in her second term with the NBCM and has been active in her advocacy of the Accredited Case Manager (ACM™) certification and its value to the health care industry.
Chris Carpenter, the outgoing NBCM Chair, said "The future of the ACM™ and the NBCM is bright with more than 5,000 accredited case managers (ACMs) and growing. Michelle Allen is the right person to be the next chair of the NBCM. During her tenure on the board, she's been a very active board member and an exceptionally engaged vice chair. She knows the health care environment, the professional and consumer issues and the important value of accreditation. It's exciting and reassuring to pass the reigns to Michelle."
The NBCM is the governing body for the ACM™ certification. The mission of the board is to provide governance for the ACM™ certification and to promote the highest standard of the delivery of safe and effective care in health care delivery system case management through the certification of qualified nurses and social workers practicing case management.

During her HCA career, Ms. Allen served from 2005-2011 as director of case management and from 1999-2004 as director of critical care at Blake Medical Center, a 383-bed trauma hospital. Ms. Allen began her time with HCA as a darkroom technician while in high school, transitioning into nursing upon college graduation in 1985. Her nursing career was in Critical Care until changing her career path to case management.
Michelle, along with her husband, has worked as a volunteer youth leader at her church for more than 20 years and is currently serving as church treasurer. Ms. Allen has two grown children and three grandchildren. She and her husband reside in Parrish, Florida and enjoy fishing, kayaking and time with their grandchildren.
The ACMA and NBCM look forward to Ms. Allen's leadership and influence in ensuring that the ACM™ certification continues to promote industry-wide competency standards through a uniform national certification exam in the field of health care delivery system case management.
