Sound Physicians Selects ArborMetrix to Optimize Clinical and Financial Performance Under Value-Based Payment Models

Sound Physicians, a leading healthcare organization focused on improving quality and lowering cost of care across the acute episode of care, has selected ArborMetrix to deliver a robust, standardized and flexible healthcare business intelligence platform for comprehensive performance measurement.

The new SoundMetrixTM analytics and reporting platform powered by ArborMetrix provides Sound Physicians with intelligence across the entire acute care episode. With 3,000 clinicians working across more than 275 hospitals in 40 states, Sound Physicians will enhance its services through an integrated solution that supports its high-performance model and further drives the measurable and reproducible improvements that hospitals need.

“We are now deep into our second decade of practice, and our commitment to drive performance improvement has advanced significantly with the introduction of the SoundMetrix analytics and reporting platform," said Robert Bessler, M.D., Chief Executive Officer, Sound Physicians. “By arming our clinical leaders with real-time, actionable data, we can further improve our outcomes for patients and hospitals."

By integrating SoundMetrix into its operations, Sound Physicians is able to deliver targeted clinical and financial performance insights to their teams in real-time. The platform makes it easy to drill down and compare performance for a hospital team, make geographic comparisons, and pinpoint individual provider performance across hundreds of hospitals nationwide. Armed with the analytics from SoundMetrix, Sound Physicians can fine-tune its operational approach to continuous quality improvement for patients and partners.

“Sound Physicians relies on robust analytics to drive performance improvement across our entire practice" said John Birkmeyer, M.D., Chief Clinical Officer, Sound Physicians. “In addition to insights that directly inform our improvement work, the ability to provide real-time, credible performance feedback to frontline physicians is invaluable. SoundMetrix helps us deliver more value to our hospital partners."

The goal of the partnership is to manage and optimize clinical and financial performance to mitigate risk under value-based payment models, as well as improve outcomes, key metrics and scores, such as Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) and the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). In addition, the solution aims to reduce variation in acute care costs, helps Sound Physicians understand drivers of post-acute costs, enables predictive analytics and drives real-time interventions.

“Sound Physicians is a leader in physician performance," said Kurt Skifstad, Chief Executive Officer, ArborMetrix. “Their dedication to driving high quality outcomes, combined with the integrated intelligence of the SoundMetrix platform, will only serve to advance Sound's ability to drive value in healthcare. ArborMetrix is committed to supporting Sound's high-performance, high-quality model of care delivery."
