Freestanding ERs save time for Flu Patients who need Medical Treatment

Is it flu? Or Flu-like? That is the question. SignatureCare Emergency Center has been inundated with patients who have the flu. The time of year is here where the flu virus is spread to millions of people in the world and Houston is no different. Often times doctors offices, Urgent Cares and Emergency Rooms are flooded with patients who are suffering from the flu, or are experiencing flu like symptoms. SignatureCare Emergency Center has been treating these flu patients quickly and 24 hours a day.

According to the CDC, The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. Most times you need to take some medication in order to feel better and rid your body of the bacteria that causes the flu.

“The symptoms of the flu are fever, cough, headache and muscle or body aches. They can include other symptoms such as sore throat, stuffy nose and fatigue." says Dr. Billy Miller, Chief Medical Director for SignatureCare Emergency Centers.

Testing for the flu involves a swab test of your nose and/or throat. If a physician diagnosis you with Flu-like illness it is his clinical diagnosis that does not involve testing", says Miller. But SignatureCare does swab patients on site and results are usually available within a short time.

For those who are feeling under the weather, Freestanding Emergency Rooms like SignatureCare are fully equipped to handle your flu testing and treatment and much faster than a hospital based ER. SignatureCare has 5 Houston area emergency rooms all of which are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including all holiday and regardless of the weather. They are always staffed with board certified physicians and have the capabilities to test you onsite and for those who need rest, receive a doctors note to stay in bed for a few days. Basically any test your doctors office, urgent care or hospital based ER can preform, SignatureCare can also preform but at a faster rate and always by a board certified physician and emergency room certified nurses and medical staff.
