MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 8, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Omnicell, Inc., (NASDAQ: OMCL), a leading provider of medication management solutions and adherence tools for healthcare systems and pharmacies, will showcase its award-winning platform of solutions at the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) 2019 conference, taking place April 10-13 at the San Diego Convention Center. The Company will also be discussing its vision for the Autonomous Pharmacy in which efficient, automated processes replace manual, error-prone activities—ideally with 100 percent precision. Omnicell’s vision includes advanced automation, data intelligence, and pharmacy services that will be integrated on a cloud data platform, ultimately streamlining workflows to allow nurses to optimize their time with patients.
According to a Kronos survey, up to 63 percent of hospital Registered Nurses (RNs) report experiencing burnout.1 Recognizing the importance of efficient workflows to help prevent burnout, Omnicell has designed solutions that nurses around the country use daily to streamline tasks and spend more time at the patient’s bedside.
Omnicell’s XT Automated Dispensing Cabinets, which will be available for demonstration in booth #1208 during AONE 2019, help improve workflow efficiency, medication accountability, and patient safety through the latest hardware technology and smart software features.
New workflow functionality available through Omnicell’s Performance Center allows Pharmacy to more easily implement optimization opportunities in their XT cabinets to help improve medication availability. Performance Center improves business and patient outcomes by leveraging a cloud-based predictive intelligence platform with ongoing optimization services. Using insights provided by Omnicell data scientists, Pharmacy is able to review, select, and implement opportunities to reallocate inventory from XT cabinets across the health system, supporting better patient care while driving significant cost reduction.
XT cabinets also offer interoperability with leading electronic health record (EHR) systems, allowing nurses to perform many cabinet functions within the EHR while automatically identifying variances between medications dispensed from the cabinet versus medications documented as administered and/or wasted, saving significant time.
To help prevent diversion of controlled drugs, XT cabinets integrate with Omnicell Analytics, an easy-to-use, web-based diversion analytics software that transforms real-time data into actionable insight to help detect abnormal drug usage and null activity. The advanced algorithm also minimizes false positives by identifying suspicious patterns compared to peer activity.
“At Omnicell, we value the vital role nurses play in contributing to patient care and want to ensure that they’re spending as much time as possible focused on patient-facing activities,” said Nhat Ngo, executive vice president, Marketing, Strategy & Business Development at Omnicell. “Through our vision of the autonomous pharmacy, we are providing solutions designed to help improve patient care, while supporting better operational and financial efficiency.”
