CRANBURY, N.J.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#physicianMedical Economics®, a multimedia platform that provides resources
for physicians that include practice management, health technology and
expert voices, highlights results from its 90th annual “Physician
Report,” which reveals practices are spending an excessive number of
hours on prior authorizations.

“Prior authorizations take time away from patients and interject a third
party into the doctor-patient relationship,” said Tom Ehardt, president
of MultiMedia Healthcare, LLC. “Our annual physician report shows that
frustration with prior authorizations is a common thread among all
doctors.”

The results show that the average practice spends more than 15 hours per
week total on prior authorizations. Forty percent of survey respondents
claimed that their biggest frustration with prior authorizations is the
time spent on them, while 33% said the biggest frustration is the
feeling as though the payer is telling physicians and staff how to do
their jobs and provide for patients.

Data was collected during November 2018. The margin of error is 3
percentage points at the 95% confidence level. For the survey results,
