McKesson ideaShare Empowers Independent Pharmacy

Health Mart reveals new tools to support and strengthen community pharmacy

ORLANDO, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Community pharmacies from all 50 states joined Health Mart® leadership this week to kick off McKesson ideaShare 2019, the leading conference designed to help independent pharmacy owners and their staff unite, learn and grow. Taking place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, pharmacists, pharmacy owners and pharmacy technicians have come together to make meaningful connections, share expertise and strengthen the future of independent pharmacy.

“McKesson ideaShare is a catered experience for each individual learner based on their specific needs and goals. Whether you’re looking to better manage your business, gain access to the right networks, bring more patients to your store or expand your services, we have the industry experts to develop you and your pharmacy,” said Nimesh Jhaveri, MBA, RPh, president, Health Mart. “With more continuing education courses, workshops and hands-on demonstrations than ever before, pharmacy owners and staff will be able to focus on what matters most to them, gaining tangible information and skills they can take back to their communities for immediate impact on their clinical, operational and financial performance.”

Hands-on learning

With more than 40 continuing education courses, including sessions on diabetes, immunizations and front end, and more than 80 workshops, meet-ups and theater presentations, pharmacy owners and staff will develop new strategies for long-term success. Attendees will also have the chance to schedule one-on-one appointments to learn more about the latest pharmacy technology and solutions to grow their business.

Show specials

Attendees can take advantage of exclusive ordering discounts, up to 25% on front-end items, from more than 170 preferred exhibitors as well as promotional program pricing during McKesson ideaShare.

New ways to drive foot traffic and revenue

Health Mart will feature a new Front End Solutions portal on myHealthMart so pharmacies can explore solutions that enhance foot traffic and can help increase a pharmacy’s bottom line. Attendees can enroll, learn more or get expert advice on circulars, retail pricing, planograms and other front-end maximizing programs. According to PBA Health, average margins on front-end merchandise are 15% higher than the margins on prescription sales, so it’s important Health Mart pharmacies leverage solutions available to them at low or no additional costs.

The Health Mart Marketing Hub, an online website with easily customizable templates, is launching a new offering to allow customers to use their matching funds for community events and sponsorships.

New performance solutions

Health Mart Atlasfocuses on making managed care easier for community pharmacy by helping to identify opportunities that are right for their needs and giving pharmacies the time to focus on those opportunities. Health Mart Atlas will showcase a number of new solutions that help reward pharmacies for performing at a high level, ensure they aren’t leaving money on the table, and ultimately benefit their patients’ health. Each of these solutions allows pharmacists the opportunity to focus on their most important duty – delivering quality patient care:

  • ProviderPay – Newly acquired reconciliation solution to help pharmacies improve their financial performance through payment management and remittance solutions.
  • Payer Performance – How to evaluate and monitor performance to help prepare for and manage DIR (direct and indirect remuneration) fees.
  • McKesson Reimbursement Advantage Program (MRA) – Will review recent enhancements such as improved performance view and cash discount card module and the role of MRA advisors to help pharmacies ensure they aren’t leaving potential dollars on the table.

Technology showcase

McKesson Pharmacy Systems, McKesson High Volume Solutions, CoverMyMeds, and Macro Helix will present the latest in pharmacy software and technology solutions that help patients get the medications they need to live healthy lives. McKesson Pharmacy Systems will showcase its pharmacy management software, including EnterpriseRx, with fully integrated patient engagement and Clinical Programs Solution (CPS) designed to help pharmacies improve patient outcomes, maximize operational performance, increase medication adherence, and aid in the reduction of DIR Fees.

Now available to pharmacies of any size or script volume, Central Fill as a Service (CFaaS) makes it easy and affordable to have all the benefits of large-scale automation without any of the upfront costs. High Volume Solutions owns and maintains the facility and the inventory, allowing pharmacies to pay only a small per-script fee.

CoverMyMeds helps patients gain access to their medications by seamlessly connecting the healthcare network to improve medication access; thereby increasing speed to therapy and reducing prescription abandonment. The CoverMyMeds network includes more than 500 electronic health record systems, 60,000 pharmacies, 700,000 providers and most health plans and pharmacy benefit managers. By facilitating appropriate access to medications, the company can help its customers avoid billions of dollars each year in administrative waste and avoidable medical spending caused by prescription abandonment.

Also exhibiting this year will be Macro Helix which provides software solutions to help covered entities and contract pharmacies navigate the complex 340B drug discount program.

Investing in independents

Independent pharmacy owners interested in buying, starting or selling a pharmacy can access expert advice from McKesson RxOwnership advisors. RxOwnership will also showcase its unique Valuation Calculator Tool, where pharmacy owners can discover the estimated worth of their pharmacy. Additionally, RxOwnership will host its third annual Women in Pharmacy – Own It event, featuring Suzanne Soliman, PharmD, founder of Pharmacist Moms Group. The Women in Pharmacy Program focuses on four key areas: ownership, mentorship, leadership and work/life balance for women. Creating a community of women helping other women succeed, the program includes matching pharmacy students and aspiring pharmacy owners with other successful owners to empower pharmacy ownership.
