MDIC Announces New Vice President of Clinical Science and Technology

ARLINGTON, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#RWEThe Medical Device Innovation Consortium (MDIC), announced today that Jon Hunt, PhD, has joined the organization as Vice President of Clinical Science & Technology. In this role, Hunt will facilitate efforts between the Consortium and its partners to identify ways to reduce costs, speed time to market, document efficacy and safety of medical devices, and provide oversight for regulatory science initiatives. He joins MDIC following his most recent tenure leading the clinical affairs and regulatory programs for Cryterion Medical, makers of cryoablation platform for atrial fibrillation that was acquired last year by Boston Scientific.

“We are extremely pleased to have Jon join the MDIC team,” said Pamela Goldberg, president and CEO of MDIC. “Jon’s proven history of innovation, coupled with his passion for improving regulatory science, will complement and strengthen the outstanding team we already have in place. We look forward to his leadership as we build on prior successes in early feasibility studies, clinical diagnostics, and the science of patient input.”

Hunt brings extensive experience driving clinical and regulatory programs for medical devices. Before his time with Cryterion Medical, he served as President and CEO of Bardy Diagnostics, whose novel ECG monitoring system achieved US and European approval under his leadership. His prior work includes more than 20 years of leadership in general management, clinical and regulatory affairs, and sales and marketing in a broad range of successful medical technology companies. Hunt earned his PhD in Motor Control from Pennsylvania State University, his Master of Arts in Motor Control from California State University, and his Bachelor of Science from Keele University in Staffordshire, England.

“I have spent my entire career developing, evaluating and bringing new cardiovascular medical devices to market,” said Hunt. “I am excited to join the MDIC team to support their mission to improve the development and assessment of new medical technologies resulting in safer and more cost-effective solutions for patient benefit.”
