Florida Vocational Institute Announces Associate Level Nursing Program

Opportunity for students to earn an entry-level nursing degree

MIAMI–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Florida Vocational Institute (FVI) has introduced a new Associate of Science in Nursing (ADN) program at its Miramar, FL, campus.

The program, which launched on September 4th, 2019, prepares students for an entry-level professional nursing position. The curriculum is a combination of classroom, lab simulation and hands-on clinical training that match students with leading healthcare facilities throughout South Florida.

Designed to meet the Florida Board of Nursing requirements, the program takes 22 months of full-time study. The degree plan is a 72-semester credit program divided into six semesters, including general education requirements. Each semester runs 15 weeks, including instruction and evaluation. This allows students to begin their nursing careers as a licensed registered nurse (RN).

“The nursing program is our first Associate level program and we believe this program can have a positive impact on South Florida’s community,” said Denyse Antunes, Campus President. “Upon completion of the program, our students will have the knowledge, competencies and clinical judgment to provide compassionate, safe and effective care of patients with acute, chronic or life-threatening physical health conditions.”

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, registered nurse employment will be one of the fastest-growing occupations in the medical industry through 2026. “As healthcare continues to change and the needs of individuals and communities become more complex, nurses have an important role in the medical world, as they influence the delivery of care patients receive. They truly are the unsung heroes,” said Antunes.

With campuses in Miami and Miramar, Florida Vocational Institute offers technology and healthcare programs. Students are educated and trained for entry-level work. The healthcare program encompasses nursing, mental health, pharmacy technician, medical assistant, patient care technician and home health aide training and education.
