PatientSafe Solutions Enhances Physician Privacy and On-Call Schedule Capabilities

Clinical Communication Leader Also Adds Handoff and Clinical Documentation Workflows for Nurses to its Comprehensive Communication and Collaboration platform

SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–PatientSafe Solutions, a leader in clinical communication and collaboration solutions for the healthcare enterprise, has released a suite of new functionality within the PatientTouch Clinical Communication platform. Care team efficiency and satisfaction is strengthened with enhancements for physicians and new mobile-enabled clinical workflows for nurses.

On-Call Schedules and Privacy for Physicians

Driving physician adoption is a significant and ongoing focus for PatientSafe, and the new PatientTouch release directly addresses physician demands for privacy, convenience and efficiency. Physicians using the Bring Your Own Device version of PatientTouch now can protect their personal information in multiple ways, including the use of a custom caller ID when contacting patients and masking their personal cell phone numbers within internal directories. Their privacy is maintained while still allowing the care team to contact them directly when needed. For added convenience, physicians can indicate their preferred method of contact and current status to let others know the best way to reach them when in the office, on call, or in surgery.

The expanded suite of secure communication tools further increases efficiency and simplifies care collaboration for physicians. Physicians can quickly log in to PatientTouch using biometric authentication and enjoy instant access to all on-call and assigned care team members and providers across the health system network. They can view their own and other provider’s current and future on-call schedules within the app, and contact providers currently on-call with just one touch.

In addition, physicians can view a summary of recent patient history directly within the PatientTouch app. A plug-in enables clinical data, such as labs, vitals and intake/output, to be imported in real time from the EMR and displayed in PatientSafe’s mView.

“We know that physician adoption is driven by a combination of factors, including privacy and the desire to reduce unwanted interruptions, both of which make their job easier,” said Si Luo, President and CEO of PatientSafe Solutions. “PatientSafe’s solution clears these bars so that health systems can realize measurable outcomes.”

Mobile-Enabled Clinical Workflows for Nurses

PatientSafe has also expanded PatientTouch’s nursing functionality by increasing their ability to service both clinical documentation and communication needs – all in one mobile app. Additions to the platform include documentation of care delivery processes that drive improved patient safety and benefit nursing efficiency by leveraging a mobile smartphone platform. Bedside hand-off, nursing and executive rounding, safety and ambulation checks, vitals capture, pain scale and falls risk assessments can all be executed within the same single application with bi-directional integration with the clients’ EMR systems.
