KUKA will present a keynote session on how collaborative robots support advancements in healthcare application development during the event

SANTA CLARA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#HREFKUKA, an intelligent automation solutions global supplier, will be demonstrating and presenting on how collaborative robots can serve as a developmental platform for new healthcare applications at the Healthcare Robotics Engineering Forum (HREF) from Dec. 9-10. The event brings together engineers, engineering management and business professionals to connect and learn about improving processes for designing, developing and manufacturing future healthcare robotics solutions.

KUKA is a leading partner in the medical technology space – the company has a long history of providing customers in the field with the top solutions in a wide range of applications, such as robot-based assistance systems for surgery and assistive components for diagnosis or rehabilitation. Additionally, unlike other robot manufacturers, KUKA has a dedicated team with extensive experience in healthcare and supporting initiatives like FDA clearance.

To share its knowledge with the industry at large, KUKA’s Director of Medical Robotics Corey Ryan will give a keynote presentation entitled “Collaborative Robots as a Developmental Platform for New Healthcare Applications” on Monday, December 9 at 10:30 a.m. During the session, Ryan will explore how collaborative robots are currently being used to support healthcare applications, compare different methods for adopting collaborative robots, and highlight selection criteria for choosing collaborative systems.

As an example of collaborative robots supporting new healthcare application development, KUKA will demonstrate its LBR Med robot at Booth #300. The demonstration will show the robot interacting with a simulated torso, showcasing its collaborative support of medical activities, like probing, in a manner that is safe for both the clinician and patient. It will also display the robot’s precision, sensitivity and hand guiding capabilities.

“Collaborative robots not only allow medical professionals to work more efficiently, but the robots allow them to provide better care for their patients,” said Ryan. “These robots are agile, precise and sensitive to the patient they’re working with, allowing clinicians to focus more on patient care and the patient’s specific needs, and trust the robotic solutions to perform routine tests and procedures.”
