BURLINGTON, Mass., March 4, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Vecna Technologies, a leading provider of healthcare information technologies, announced today it has been awarded a contract to integrate its Patient Self-Service platform with Cerner, the VA’s new electronic health record system. The contract calls for a bi-directional interface based on the “Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources” (FHIR) industry-standard protocol. The scope of work also includes implementation and “go-live” support services at the VA’s Columbus, OH medical facility.

“We are thrilled to be supporting the VA on this important project,” stated Deborah Theobald, CEO Vecna Technologies. “Our system is currently serving nearly 1,000 VA medical facilities throughout the VA enterprise. This new engineering effort will produce a critical interface between the Vecna platform and Cerner, the new EHR system for VA and DoD.”

Ms. Theobald continued, “This award also puts Vecna in a unique position as the only self-service platform that integrates with the big three: VA’s VistA, DoD’s CHCS/AHLTA, and Cerner. This is a strategic advantage as Vecna’s platform is poised to support DoD and VA facilities now and in the coming years, both before and after they transition to the new EHR.”
