The American Academy of Dermatology adds PatientPoint® as an Official Licensee of the AAD to Enhance Patient Education at Practices Nationwide

CINCINNATI, March 12, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — PatientPoint® and the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) today announced a new initiative to add PatientPoint as an Official Licensee of the AAD, bringing AAD patient education to patients, caregivers and dermatologists via the industry-leading PatientPoint patient and provider engagement platform. The collaboration, projected to reach nearly 2,500 dermatologists nationwide by the end of 2020, will leverage PatientPoint digital waiting room screens and interactive exam room touchscreens to deliver dermatologist-approved content from AAD’s vast online patient education library to the point of care.

As a new AAD licensee, PatientPoint will offer AAD-developed education via PatientPoint® Communicate™ digital waiting room screens and PatientPoint® Interact™ interactive exam room touchscreens covering a wide range of dermatology topics including eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, skin cancer, sun protection and acne.

“Patients appreciate the trusted and credible health information they receive from their dermatologists, and we are all well aware of the great benefits of comprehensive patient education,” said board-certified dermatologist Rajiv Nijhawan, MD, FAAD, chair of the AAD’s Public Education Committee. “The AAD has a tremendous library of rigorously developed, physician-vetted educational content. Through this initiative, the AAD will expand the reach of its important skin, hair and nail health information while simultaneously educating the public on the broad range of diseases diagnosed and managed by board-certified dermatologists.”

The AAD’s educational content will be added to an existing suite of award-winning PatientPoint dermatology content, interactive teaching tools and custom practice messages designed for the waiting room and exam room.

“The AAD is the authority in dermatology and we are privileged to leverage our best-in-class digital network to bring trusted, reliable AAD content to patients, families and dermatologists in the point-of-care moments that matter,” said PatientPoint Founder and CEO Mike Collette. “Delivering AAD education via our pioneering patient engagement technology presents a winning combination for dermatology practices to help improve care and contribute to better outcomes.”
