Leading Brain Injury Expert to Chair EyeGuide’s Scientific Advisory Board

Internationally recognized sports neuropsychologist Dr. Ruben Echemendia to help advance brain health monitoring technology platform

PHILADELPHIA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–EyeGuide Inc., a digital health and bioinformatics company revolutionizing the way brain health is monitored, announced today that Dr. Ruben Echemendia is supporting the organization as chairperson of EyeGuide’s new Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Echemendia is a recognized global authority on sports-related brain injury and neuropsychology, and is currently active as an expert adviser to youth and professional sports organizations across North America.

As chairman of EyeGuide’s Scientific Advisory Board, Dr. Echemendia will provide expertise and professional consultation supporting the company’s initiatives and scientific research. He will also work closely with EyeGuide executives to identify and attract other leading brain health and sports medicine experts to further expand the board.

Dr. Echemendia is the Director of the National Hockey League’s Neuropsychological Testing Program and Co-Chair of the NHL/NHLPA Concussion Subcommittee. He is also Chair of Major League Soccer’s Concussion Committee and is a consulting clinical neuropsychologist to Princeton University’s department of Athletic Medicine, the U.S. Soccer Federation and the U.S. Soccer National Teams. He serves on the U.S. Lacrosse Sports Science and Safety Committee, the NCAA Concussion Task Force, and the U.S. Soccer Medical Advisory Committee. He has served as a consultant to the U.S. Defense Veteran’s Brain Injury Center, the Centers for Disease Control, the National Council of Youth Sports Safety, and other national and international organizations. Dr. Echemendia is also a founding Executive Board member of the international Concussion in Sport Group.

Dr. Echemendia is past president and fellow of both the National Academy of Neuropsychology and the Sports Neuropsychology Society, a fellow of the American Psychological Association, and an adjunct associate professor of psychology at University of Missouri-Kansas City. Dr. Echemendia has published extensively in the area of sports neuropsychology and was recently honored with the Distinguished Career Award by the Sports Neuropsychology Society.

Dr. Echemendia received his Doctor of Philosophy in clinical psychology from Bowling Green State University as well as a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Hofstra University.
