‘Silver Tsunami’ Surges Onto Privia Health’s Virtual Visits Platform

More than 40,000 seniors connect virtually with their Privia physicians in last 60 days

Company seeing 7,000 visits per day across national medical group via Company Developed Telehealth Platform

ARLINGTON, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#COVIDPrivia Health’s (“Privia”) proprietary virtual visit platform connected more than 40,000 seniors with their physicians during the initial months of the Coronavirus outbreak, accounting for nearly 20% of virtual visits across Privia’s national medical group. More than 97% of the seniors positively rated their virtual visit experience, citing the ability to safely see their physician as one of the greatest benefits of the technology.

“Patients of all ages should continue to stay focused on their health during this unprecedented global pandemic,” said Shishir Khetan, MD, an internal medicine physician and one of Privia Health’s Virtual Medical Directors. “Stay at home orders and social distancing transformed the healthcare delivery experience, and I’m thankful that our virtual visit platform allows us to seamlessly engage with patients now and into the future.”

Privia Health includes a network of more than 2,500 providers in multiple states. Privia’s proprietary cloud-based technology platform, innovative approach to patient engagement and focus on physician-driven wellness help improve patient outcomes and create healthier communities.

“Contrary to popular belief, seniors have always been active users of technology within the Privia platform. For example, our experience demonstrates that seniors’ patient portal usage is in line with, or greater than, other generations,” said Mark Foulke, Privia’s Executive Vice President, Transformational Value-Based Care. “We believe one result of the COVID-19 pandemic will be seniors continuing to embrace virtual visits – a resource that will become increasingly important as a more convenient option to access care, and to manage their chronic conditions and overall health.”

A pioneer in the use of telemedicine, Privia in partnership with physicians throughout its national medical group, developed its own virtual health platform in 2017. With a customized industrial strength telehealth solution in place, the company has been able to quickly scale its technology platform in the face of the Coronavirus outbreak to accommodate the rapidly increasing need for virtual care. Privia currently provides an average of 7,000 virtual visits a day to new and established patients. Patients can schedule virtual visits with their provider, and in many areas, also have access to 24/7 urgent care services through the myPrivia Virtual Clinic.

Privia’s virtual platform integrates into a patient’s electronic health record, enabling providers to capture details of each clinical encounter and making that information readily available online to patients and their care teams.

“Our patients appreciate the ability to see us during their virtual visits. With step-by-step instructions and an experienced customer service team, we’ve helped thousands of patients maintain their continuum of care,” said Khetan. “We will continue to do everything in our power to support our patients and ‘meet them where they are’ to deliver safe and secure care now and into the future.”
