LOS ANGELES, Aug. 25, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Fortress, the world’s leading provider of fan engagement solutions in professional sports, was selected by Major League Soccer to engage new technology featuring a combined accreditation and thermal scanning system at the MLS Is Back Tournament at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in the Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida.

During the tournament, which began on July 8 and concluded on August 11, the Fortress system provided an exclusive daily, fast and effective COVID-19 symptom check to MLS staff, and broadcast and media personnel entering the facility. In addition, MLS players, coaches, and club staff used the Fortress accreditation system.

Fortress is proud to announce the accreditation deployment was the first time that both this intuitive system and COVID-19 symptom check technology has been used by a major U.S. sports league. Before entering the facility, the Fortress pods scanned the person’s temperature, then linked the result to their game pass.

This is Fortress’s first project with MLS. Fortress’s client roster also includes some of the most iconic professional sports franchises in the world such as the Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Dodgers, Miami Heat, Arsenal, and the Boston Red Sox.

“We are so proud to have both partnered with MLS on this project, and to be at the technology forefront of keeping employees and staff in sports safe at such a crucial time,” said Britton Stackhouse Miller, SVP of Client Strategy for Fortress. “It has been incredible to watch the league’s leadership in operating one of the first ‘bubbles’ in sports and we are honored to have been part of it.”

“Working with Fortress to add an additional layer of temperature screening for the MLS Is Back Tournament provided an innovative solution to help us bring soccer back safely during these unprecedented times,” said Shannon Vafiadou, Senior Manager of Operations for Major League Soccer. “Fortress worked around the clock to deliver a custom credential management system to meet our evolving needs. We are very thankful for their commitment to this ambitious project.”
