Keena Healthcare Technology to release EHR Barcode Reader with Inventory at NextGen UGM 2020

SKANEATELES, N.Y.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#keenahealthKeena Healthcare Technology is proud to be a Platinum Sponsor of NextGen UGM 2020 and will be exhibiting the extensive capabilities of EHR Barcode Reader now with expanded inventory functionality.

First released in 2015 for Allscripts TouchWorks EHR and developed for NextGen in 2018, EHR Barcode Reader is an add-on application utilizing 2D barcode reader technology, that instantly collects vaccine data and populates key fields in your EHR including NDC, lot and expiration date. With regulations like the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act (NCVIA) that mandates documentation of product identification, EHR Barcode Reader saves time, reduces unnecessary keystrokes, and eliminates costly data entry errors.

New for 2020, Keena’s EHR Barcode Reader now features an inventory module that is a standalone web viewer allowing for an easier and more manageable view of vaccine inventory within NextGen File Maintenance. A real-time link to the NextGen Enterprise® platform enables users to quickly track the transfer of immunizations from clinic to clinic, with alerts for tracking vials near expiration or when inventory is nearing zero. Keena EHR Barcode Inventory saves clinical administration countless hours of work associated with data entry, organization and fulfillment- freeing up staff to focus on value-based care goals.

“With the increased pressures put on healthcare organizations by COVID-19 and the heightened importance of flu shots, workflow efficiency is more critical than ever,” explained Craig Luce, cofounder of Keena Healthcare Technology. “Compounded with a possible COVID-19 vaccine on the horizon, administration demands could become overwhelming. We thought it was more important than ever to invest in the expansion of Keena’s EHR Barcode Reader functionality by making the management of vaccine inventory quicker and simpler for our clients.”

NextGen UGM 2020 will take place virtually on November 9-12, with sessions made available on-demand till the end of the year. Keena was one of the first companies to be accepted into NextGen Healthcare’s API developer program and will be taking part in the session “APIs: Beyond Regulatory-Available Apps for You Today Utilizing the NextGen Enterprise® API” as well as demoing EHR Barcode Reader in their booth.
