Dr. Sung Yang Details the Top Hiking Trails in Hawaii

The Top Hiking Trails in Hawaii According to Dr. Sung Yang

HONOLULU, HI / ACCESSWIRE / January 20, 2021 / According to Dr. Sung Yang, the best way to see Hawaii is on foot. “Hiking is the only way to really experience the island, the essence of the island,” says Dr. Sung Yang. And with so many hiking trails on the islands, there’s more than one that will vie for your favorite spot.

One favorite Hawaii hiking trail of Dr. Sung Yang is the Kalalau Trail located on the island of Kauai. It’s twenty-two miles roundtrip and has spectacular views of the Na Pall Coast. Besides that, according to Dr. Sung Yang, “This is the only way to get to Kalalau Beach by land, with its pristine sand and turquoise waters. It’s best to hike this trail during the dry season, however, as it is prone to flooding during the rainy season.”

Another favorite of Dr. Sung Yang is Kaena Point on the westernmost tip of Oahu. “It has a spiritual reputation in our Hawaii folklore,” says Dr. Sung Yang. “This is the place where souls go to essentially leap into the afterlife.” This is an easy hike, according to Dr. Sung Yang, and the 3 miles takes about an hour to traverse.

Other honorable mentions include the Haiku Stairs, otherwise known as the stairway to heaven. It is currently closed due to dangerous conditions, however, when it was open, this was by far the most popular hike on Oahu. The hike, according to Dr. Sung Yang, traverses up steep steps, which are currently unstable, to the top of a mountain in the clouds. The Koko Crater Trail is another gem for hiking in Hawaii and is also located on Oahu. For this hike, you will climb exactly one thousand steps to the top where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of Diamond Head. The hike takes about an hour to the top.

Hawaii affords a pleasant climate most of the year, making this state perfect for hiking, says Dr. Sung Yang. If you plan on visiting Hawaii anytime in the future, be sure to check out at least one of the amazing hikes on whichever island you’re staying on. “I can’t imagine living in Hawaii and not hiking,” says Dr. Sung Yang. “The beautiful scenery and nature of the islands are wonderful for rejuvenating the body, mind, and soul.”
