2021 National Awards for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice Announced by IPEC and PHS Commissioned Officers Foundation for the Advancement of Public Health (COF)

One overall winner and five honorable mentions recognized for interprofessional education in the health sciences

WASHINGTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#IPE–This year marks the 5th anniversary of the Public Health Excellence in Interprofessional Education Collaboration Award, which was established to acknowledge and celebrate outstanding multidisciplinary efforts to impact community health. The PHS Commissioned Officers Foundation for the Advancement of Public Health (COF) and the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) are delighted to congratulate the 2021 COF IPEC Award winners and five honorable mention finalists:

All honorees will be recognized at a virtual ceremony in conjunction with the Summer 2021 IPEC Member Meeting on June 1, 2021.

“On behalf of IPEC, I applaud the model collaboration formed at Kean University to test the effectiveness of interventions used to detect and mitigate the risks posed by hypertension and cardiac disease,” said Deborah E. Trautman, PhD, RN, FAAN, IPEC Board Chair and President and CEO of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. “Academic leaders representing Nursing, Communication Disorders, and Occupational Therapy are breaking new ground through this study, which examines the importance of community-based partnerships to meet the healthcare needs of underserved populations and address public health threats.”

The COF IPEC IPE in Excellence Award acknowledges many successful examples of interdisciplinary education in health professions education. Nominations were evaluated on the scope and impact of their contributions on community health.
