180 Life Sciences Announces Presentation at the Gordon Conference

PALO ALTO, Calif., Feb. 27, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — 180 Life Sciences Corp. (NASDAQ: ATNF) (“180 Life Sciences” or the “Company”), today announced that Professor Jagdeep Nanchahal has been selected to present at the Gordon Research Conference on “Physiological and Disease Relevance and Underlying Molecular Properties of Collagens”, at Colby-Sawyer College, New London, New Hampshire, from July 9 – 14, 2023.

Jagdeep Nanchahal, Professor of Hand, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Oxford and chairman of the clinical advisory board of 180 Life Sciences will be presenting his findings on Dupuytren’s disease. His team has been the leaders in the modern application of molecular and single cell techniques to describe the cellular composition of early-stage Dupuytren’s nodules. This detailed analysis has unraveled the signaling pathways that drive the progression of the disease. They identified tumor necrosis factor (TNF) as a potential therapeutic target, followed this up by a phase 2a trial to identify the optimal dose and formulation of adalimumab (an anti-TNF already approved for other conditions such as inflammatory arthritis) and then performed an original, very challenging (as the follow-up was during the COVID-19 pandemic) phase 2b clinical trial. We believe the trial was successful as the trial succeeded in achieving its primary and secondary endpoints with statistical significance.

“Successful development of therapies for new indications involves considerable understanding of the disease and its manifestations, then detailed laboratory studies followed by carefully planned clinical trials,” said Professor Sir Marc Feldmann, Executive Co-Chairman of 180 Life Sciences, who continued, “My colleagues and I previously followed this path that led to the successful use of anti-TNF treatments for rheumatoid arthritis.”

Dr. James Woody, CEO of 180 Life Sciences, stated, “The Gordon Research Conferences are very prestigious international events dating back to 1931, which are organized by a non-profit organization to promote scientific discussion and progress, and build communities to advance the frontiers of science. Each conference is limited to 200 attendees; scientists must be selected by the conference chair to attend the meeting. All conferees are active participants in their community and contribute to moving the frontiers of the scientific field forward.”
