One Year Since Founder to CEO Transition, Oxeon Welcomes Duncan Reece as President and Opens Nashville Office

NASHVILLE, Tenn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Oxeon, an industry-leading healthcare firm driving transformation through talent, entrepreneurship and investment, today announced two major milestones one year into the tenure of CEO Sonia Millsom: Duncan Reece is stepping into the newly created position of company President and Oxeon is making a pivotal expansion into the Nashville, TN market with the opening of a new corporate office.

Oxeon’s Growth and Expansion

While the healthcare industry experienced one of the more tumultuous years on record, Oxeon is doubling down on the need to connect people and ideas to change healthcare for everyone. Since its founding in 2011, Oxeon has made an important impact: placing more than 1,000 executives in transformative roles, making more than 10 seed investments in businesses that went on to become unicorns and launching nine Oxeon Venture Studio companies impacting more than 1 million lives across the country.

One year ago, Founder Trevor Price appointed Sonia Millsom as CEO to lead the next phase of growth of the firm. Amid industry headwinds, Oxeon is on pace to realize a 20% increase in revenue by the end of 2023. While maintaining Oxeon’s entrepreneurial roots within the early-stage healthcare ecosystem, this growth comes from expanded partnerships with Private Equity and Venture Capital firms and doubling its work with legacy and institutional healthcare payers and provider systems.

Millsom commented, “In a time of market challenges, we are grateful for our deep and trusted partnerships that have allowed us to continue to grow our impact. This growth trajectory allows us to invest in new talent, our proprietary data platform, new company creation through our venture studio, and to deploy capital in companies championing the next phase of healthcare innovation. I am privileged to lead Oxeon into this next chapter. I continue to be excited to expand on the foundation built by Trevor Price and work with my outstanding team on these growth initiatives.”

Duncan Reece, Cohere Health Co-founder & Iora Health Executive Joins as President

To meet the evolving needs of the most forward-looking customers, Oxeon’s next phase of growth requires new talent with the necessary market perspective, operating experience and pace. To this end, Oxeon is thrilled to appoint Duncan Reece as President of the company.

Reece is an accomplished C-level operator and founder who has built a career at the intersection of value-based care, cutting edge-technology and technology-enabled medical groups at all stages of growth. Over the last 15 years he has established a specialty in supporting founders, creating win-win solutions that benefit patients and their doctors, recruiting the best leaders with a big vision and aligned values and empowering high-performing teams that drive results at different levels of scale. His track record includes driving some of the most influential enterprise value expansion at Iora Health (acquired by One Medical for $2.1B) and Cohere Health (one of the fastest growing health technology companies in the U.S.). Before that, Reece was initiated into the industry at the original population health company, Health Dialog.

As President, Reece will have two core responsibilities. He will productize and operationalize the unique data platform that Oxeon has built across tens of thousands of proprietary data points and insights. He will also lead the Oxeon Venture studio, building companies in partnership with founders and supporting the portfolio of leaders in their journeys to fix healthcare.

Geographic expansion into Nashville

Nashville is a healthcare hub home to established enterprises and growth stage companies, with more than 500 healthcare companies in its network driving an estimated $100 billion in combined revenue. Oxeon is poised to partner with the area’s defining legacy companies as well as digital health newcomers as they work to solve some of the nation’s biggest healthcare challenges. The new office will similarly be dedicated to search, investment and company creation and be led by long-time Oxeon Principal, Tom Keefe. The company will host a launch event on September 21 with top healthcare entrepreneurs, investors and leaders in Nashville.

Keefe commented, “We’re excited to expand our impact in this talented, dynamic community alongside both legacy leaders and upstart companies tackling the next phase of healthcare innovation. Opening an office builds on past and current Oxeon success in Nashville, alongside best-in-class investors and businesses. We look forward to becoming a bigger part of the community and aim to invest further in the market.”

Shawn Morris, Board Director and former CEO of Privia Health and long-time partner of Oxeon, added: “I’ve partnered with Oxeon as a candidate, executive placement and a client over the years, so I know firsthand and from every angle the power and impact of Oxeon’s platform. There is so much opportunity in Nashville. We have some of the best human capital, ideas and community working in healthcare. And I’m certain all of us will benefit from having the Oxeon team here.”
