Nation’s Leading Urgent Care Provider Advocates for Early Flu Vaccination with Interactive Campaign
BIRMINGHAM, AL / ACCESSWIRE / October 6, 2023 / American Family Care (AFC), the nation’s leading provider of accessible primary care, urgent care, and occupational medicine, is reigniting its “Be an In[FLU]encer” campaign during National Flu Prevention Week, from October 8-15, 2023. The campaign emphasizes the importance of early flu vaccinations and offers an interactive way for people to champion the cause.
“Flu is not just a seasonal inconvenience, it’s a significant health risk. Every flu shot we administer has the potential to save lives, prevent hospitalizations, and foster a healthier community,” says Dr. LouAnne Giangreco, Chief Medical Officer at AFC. “By getting vaccinated, not only are you protecting yourself and those around you, but you also become an advocate for health. We urge everyone, especially those at higher risk, to get their flu shot during National Flu Prevention Week and become an In[FLU]encer. Instead of spreading the flu, spread the word about the importance of early vaccination and inspire others to do the same.”
American Family Care clinics around the nation are starting to see positive flu test results. The latest report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows a high level of influenza-like illnesses in New York as well as Washington, DC. Typically, flu season starts as early as October and peaks between December and February.
Flu Flashback (CDC) 2022/2023:
Be an In[FLU]encer in 2023!
During National Flu Prevention Week , patients who receive their flu shot at any AFC clinic will earn the title of In[FLU]encer. They can then showcase their commitment by posting photos of themselves donning an In[FLU]encer badge on social media with the hashtag “#fluinfluencer.” AFC will amplify these posts, spreading the vital message of early flu vaccinations.

Key Flu Facts for 2023:
The flu poses a threat to everyone, notably young children, pregnant individuals, older adults, and those with chronic health conditions.
All individuals, with rare exceptions, aged 6 months and older should receive the annual flu vaccination. This year’s vaccine has been updated to protect against the four prevailing flu strains.
This year, the CDC states patients with egg allergies may get any flu vaccine that is appropriate for their age and health status. It is recommended that vaccines are administered in settings where allergic reactions can be recognized and treated quickly.
A flu vaccination is the best defense against flu-related illness, hospitalization, and death. It not only protects the individual but also their community.
Flu shots can be administered alongside other vaccines, including the COVID-19 vaccine. However, COVID-19 vaccines do not offer protection against the flu.
AFC clinics nationwide will provide flu shots throughout the season, often at minimal or no cost to new and existing patients. No appointment is necessary.
