LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL / ACCESSWIRE / November 8, 2023 / The American Association of Medical Assistants® (AAMA) installed Aimee Wicker, MA-Law, CMA (AAMA), as the 2023-2024 AAMA Vice President in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, at the 67th AAMA Annual Conference. In this capacity, Vice President Wicker, a resident of Dayton, Ohio, represents medical assistants and CMAs (AAMA)® across the nation.
Medical assisting is one of the nation’s careers growing much faster than the average for all occupations, according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics. Medical assistants work in outpatient health care settings. Employers are seeking and recruiting these allied health professionals because of their uniquely diverse clinical and administrative patient-centered training.
“I am honored that the members of the AAMA have elected me as Vice President to continue to serve on the AAMA Board of Trustees,” says Wicker. “I look forward to representing all medical assistants across the nation. Credentialed medical assistants are a vital part of the care team in providing quality, comprehensive and coordinated care to patients.”
Wicker brings a great deal of experience to her office. She has been a CMA (AAMA) since 1997 and worked clinically and managed ambulatory practices for over 20 years. Wicker currently works for Kettering Health as network manager of ambulatory quality. In this role, she leads their quality incentive programs and practice transformation within their clinically integrated network, Kettering Health Physician Partners. She completed her master’s degree in health care law at Regent University School of Law and her bachelor’s degree in health care administration at Mercy College.
Wicker has served in many capacities for the AAMA. She has been on the Board of Trustees since 2016. Wicker has chaired and served on numerous national committees. She is also an active member of the Ohio State Society of Medical Assistants.
The Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA)® – or CMA (AAMA) – credential represents a medical assistant who has been credentialed through the Certifying Board (CB) of the AAMA. The CB of the AAMA was awarded accreditation by the International Accreditation Service (IAS) under ISO/IEC Standard 17024:2012, the global benchmark for personnel certification bodies, thus distinguishing the CMA (AAMA) from all other medical assisting certifications.
A rigorous credential, the CMA (AAMA) is the only medical assisting certification that requires postsecondary (college-level) education to be eligible to sit for the CMA (AAMA) Certification Exam, which is administered by PSI Services. As a result, the reliability and validity of the CMA (AAMA) credential are of the highest order.
