Dr. Nelson is also recognized for his entrepreneurial spirit, co-founding the Federated Software Group (FSG), which achieved significant success and was later acquired by Boeing Inc. His work at FSG was crucial in developing advanced command and control systems for the US Air Force and the US Transportation Command, greatly enhancing global mobility across air, land, and sea.
