Financial Assistance From The Assistance Fund Now Available for Eligible People Living With Neurofibromatosis

ORLANDO, FL / ACCESSWIRE / January 8, 2024 / The Assistance Fund, an independent charitable patient assistance organization that helps patients and families facing high medical out-of-pocket costs, today announced the launch of a new financial assistance program for people living with neurofibromatosis (NF). The program is designed to help eligible individuals pay for their out-of-pocket medical costs for treatment, such as copayments, health insurance premiums, and incidental medical expenses related to the condition.

Neurofibromatosis is a genetic condition related to chromosomes 17 and 22 where tumors develop on the nervous system, often during childhood.[1] People living with NF experience uncontrolled cell growth with signs appearing as freckles in the armpits and groin, “café au lait” spots on the skin, and optic glioma. Without treatment, children with NF can experience growth and developmental delays.

“Learning that your child has a rare disease like neurofibromatosis can be devastating,” said Danielle Vizcaino, President and CEO of The Assistance Fund. “The Assistance Fund’s new Neurofibromatosis Financial Assistance Program will eliminate critical barriers to treatment for families facing a neurofibromatosis diagnosis, allowing them to focus on managing the condition.”
