Financial Assistance From The Assistance Fund Now Available for Eligible People Living With Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

ORLANDO, FL / ACCESSWIRE / March 25, 2024 / The Assistance Fund, an independent charitable patient assistance organization that helps patients and families facing high medical out-of-pocket costs, today announced the launch of a new financial assistance program for people living with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The program is designed to help eligible individuals pay for their out-of-pocket medical costs for treatment, such as copayments, health insurance premiums, and incidental medical expenses related to the condition.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition impacting people who have experienced a traumatic event.[1] Symptoms can begin right after the traumatic event or take months – or even years – to appear. While symptoms vary from person to person, many people living with PTSD experience flashbacks, anxiety, hopelessness or suicidal thoughts. Appropriate treatment can lead to fewer symptoms and an increased ability to cope.

“People living with mental health conditions like PTSD need treatment, not shame and stigma,” said Danielle Vizcaino, President and CEO of The Assistance Fund. “Today’s launch of our Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Financial Assistance Program reflects both The Assistance Fund’s and its donors’ commitment to increasing access to mental health treatment.”
