Charlotte-based nonprofit recognized for exceptional commitment to hiring and retaining veterans

CHARLOTTE, NC / ACCESSWIRE / November 15, 2024 / Veterans Bridge Home (VBH), a leading non-profit organization dedicated to connecting, leading and advocating for veterans and their families across the Carolinas, has been selected for a 2024 HIRE Vets Platinum Medallion Award. This recognition, presented by the U.S. Department of Labor, honors VBH’s outstanding commitment to recruiting, employing, and retaining America’s veterans.

The HIRE Vets Medallion Award is the only federal-level veterans’ employment award that recognizes employers’ dedication to veteran hiring, retention, and professional development. VBH has demonstrated exceptional performance in these areas, with veterans comprising 68% of new hires and 64% of total employees in 2023, along with a remarkable 100% retention rate for veterans hired in 2022.

Recipients of the 2024 HIRE Vets Medallion Award meet rigorous employment and veteran integration assistance criteria, including veteran hiring and retention percentages; availability of veteran-specific resources; leadership programming for veterans; dedicated human resource efforts; pay compensation and tuition assistance programs for veterans. More than 1,600 employers have earned a HIRE Vets Medallion Award since 2019.

There are different awards for large employers (500-plus employees), medium employers (51-499 employees), and small employers (50 or fewer employees). Additionally, there are two award tiers: platinum and gold.
