GRAND RAPIDS, MI / ACCESSWIRE / November 27, 2024 / The American Association of Medical Assistants® (AAMA) installed Loxie Kistler, EdD, MS, BSN, RN, CMA (AAMA), CHUC, as the 2024-2026 AAMA Secretary in Grand Rapids, Michigan, at the 68th AAMA Annual Conference. In this capacity, Secretary Kistler, a resident of Milford, Ohio, represents medical assistants and CMAs (AAMA)® across the nation.
Medical assisting is one of the nation’s careers growing much faster than the average for all occupations, according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Medical assistants work in outpatient health care settings. Employers are seeking and recruiting these allied health professionals because of their uniquely diverse clinical and administrative patient-centered training.
Secretary Kistler states, “It will be an honor and privilege to serve credentialed medical assistants in the United States and other nations. Credentialed medical assistants are key to quality care and patient well-being. Serving as an officer of the AAMA will allow me to contribute to the valuable work of all credentialed medical assistants.”
Kistler brings a great deal of experience to their office. She has over 25 years of experience as a CMA (AAMA) in ambulatory care and education. And she was a program director in a medical assisting associate degree program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program.
Kistler has served in many capacities for the AAMA, including as an active member in AAMA and as a CMA (AAMA) since 1996. Kistler has also served as a state president, vice president, secretary, speaker and vice speaker. She has served as an AAMA Trustee for two terms and has chaired and served on several national committees.
The Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA)®-or CMA (AAMA)-credential represents a medical assistant who has been credentialed through the Certifying Board (CB) of the AAMA. A rigorous credential, the CMA (AAMA) is the only medical assisting certification that requires postsecondary (college level) education to be eligible to sit for the CMA (AAMA) Certification Exam, which is administered by PSI Services. As a result, the reliability and validity of the CMA (AAMA) credential are of the highest order.
Certification status is a matter of public record and may be released; CMA (AAMA) certification verification – for both current and potential employees – is available via the AAMA website.
