Yardi Expert Fil Southerland Reappointed to HITAC

Director of health care solutions to serve a second term on government advisory body

SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Jan. 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Fil Southerland, director of health care solutions at Yardi®, has been reappointed to the Health Information Technology Advisory Committee (HITAC). The U.S. Comptroller General and head of the U.S. Government Accountability Office announced the reappointment of Southerland, along with five others, to serve a second three-year term through 2027.  

The HITAC was established in 2016 under the 21st Century Cures Act. The committee provides recommendations on policies, standards, implementation specifications and certification criteria to the Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy/Office of the National Coordinator. It advises on the implementation of health information technology that advances the electronic use of health information.

Southerland continues to bring extensive experience and perspective to the HITAC as a strong advocate for implementing health information technology in senior living. Southerland has been involved with the senior living and long-term and post-acute care (LTPAC) industries for over 18 years. At Yardi, he leads initiatives in electronic health care records and interoperability. He was founder and CTO of ALMSA, Inc., a cloud-based electronic health provider in the assisted living space that was acquired by Yardi in 2012.
