ARLINGTON, Texas, Feb. 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Smith System, a global leader in driver safety management, has acquired Brightmile, a cutting-edge driver behavior analytics solution. This strategic acquisition enhances Smith System’s ability to offer fleets data-driven insights on driver behavior, improving safety through the proven Smith 5 Keys® program.

Brightmile provides a unique mobile device-based driver solution that monitors and analyzes driver behavior in real time.  The solution links driver behavior to online and behind-the-wheel training by identifying patterns, evaluating areas for intervention, and providing personalized coaching for unsafe practices. Drivers and companies can track behavior over time, identify effective training per driver, adjust programs for safety needs, and maximize ROI. Additionally, Brightmile’s driver app has a rewards program that engages the driver, reinforces positive driving behavior and gamifies driver risk management.

By integrating the Brightmile solution with the Smith System, Smith is extending its solution from in-person and online training into a more holistic, digital driver risk management and safety program.

“Aligning Brightmile monitoring and analytics with the proven training methodology of the Smith System is a natural evolution of driver safety training” said Derek Dunaway, Chief Executive Officer of Smith System. “This combination not only enhances our ability to train drivers, but also continuously monitors their adaptation to training, reinforces corrective behaviors, engages them digitally, and maximizes fleet safety through the application of learned skills.”

“Merging Brightmile’s platform with Smith’s decades long experience delivering training across the world is a natural fit and an exciting opportunity to maximize the impact of our digital capabilities that the whole team has worked so hard to build,” added Dominic Saunders, CEO of Brightmile. “Bringing together the two company’s strengths truly is a case of the whole being more than the sum of its parts.”

This acquisition marks a significant step forward in driver safety training, empowering businesses to reduce risk, improve driver performance, and create a safer driving culture through proactive data-driven decision-making.
