GREENVILLE, N.C., April 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Vets Pets, a North Carolina-based cooperative network of veterinary hospitals, has renamed the Pet Emergency Clinic of Pitt County to Points East Veterinary Emergency Hospital of Greenville (Points East Greenville). The update reflects the hospital’s evolution and longstanding connection with two sister facilities: Points East Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Wilson and Points East Veterinary Emergency Hospital in Fayetteville.
These hospitals will now operate under a shared identity as the Points East Veterinary Group, with a new digital home at pointseastvet.com.
“This rebrand is more than a name change,” said Steve Thomas, CEO of Vets Pets. “It represents our continued investment in veterinary medicine in North Carolina. It reflects our commitment to ensuring pets and the referring veterinary community have access to consistent, high-quality emergency and specialty care.”
The Points East Veterinary Group was born out of a vision to provide advanced veterinary medicine to communities outside of Raleigh. That vision began in 2006, when local veterinary leader Dr. Frank Batten founded Eastern Carolina Veterinary Emergency Treatment Services (ECVETS) in a 2,500 sq ft industrial complex in Wilson. A year later, Dr. Batten and his son-in-law, Steve Thomas, co-founded Vets Pets, with ECVETS as one of its first practices.
Since then, Points East has expanded strategically—adding services and capabilities to better serve pet families and primary care veterinarians of the region.
With this name update, Points East Veterinary Emergency Hospital of Greenville joins its sister hospitals under a unified name, mission, and standard of care. The move also supports future initiatives in medicine, technology, and team development.
“Consistency in emergency care matters,” said Paige Harrington, DVM, Vice President of Medical Leadership at Vets Pets. “Whether a pet arrives in Greenville, Fayetteville, or Wilson, our community and referring veterinarians can expect the same family-focused, collaborative, and high-quality experience.”
Though newly named, Points East Greenville remains rooted in its history and is better positioned to serve the community—now and in the future—through a shared vision with the Points East Veterinary Group.
