Visa Lighting’s Liberty™ Switches Receive Second Award

Selected by Healthcare Design Magazine for the 2025 Silver Product Innovation Award

MILWAUKEE, April 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Visa Lighting’s Liberty Switches were announced as the Silver Award winner for Healthcare Design (HCD) Magazine’s 2025 Product Innovation Awards. This is the second award that the Liberty Switches have been granted following the Nightingale Innovation Award in the Technology-Integrated Solutions category at last fall’s Healthcare Design Conference & Expo.

Liberty high-abuse momentary switches were created to provide behavioral health patients the freedom to control the lighting in their own room. Crafted with rugged single-piece machined aluminum wall plate, the switches are ligature-resistant, feature tamper-resistant hardware, exceed IK10 impact resistance, and are listed to IP65 ingress protection. The switches are also included in the New York State Office of Mental Health (NYOMH) Patient Safety Standards, Materials, and Systems Guidelines.

Thirty-one presentations were submitted for review and evaluated by a panel of 17 jurors, including architects, interior designers, providers, and consultants from HCD’s Editorial Advisory Board. Jury evaluation focused on innovation and contribution to the design of the healthcare environment—including enhanced safety, improved patient comfort, reduced installation/maintenance costs, environmental sustainability, and/or products that solve a specific challenge in a way that is innovative and valuable.

Regarding the Liberty Switches, one of the judges for the Innovation Awards commented, “At its core, great product design aims squarely at real-world problems. Until now, there were no safe light switches for behavioral health settings. This innovation not only reintroduces switches into patient environments but does so with a form-factor that feels at home in any setting – a testament to both safety and universal design.”

Liberty switch assemblies are available in single, dual, and triple-gang models and compliment Visa Lighting’s expansive line of behavioral health/high abuse lighting products including overbed, ceiling, vanity, downlights and mirrors.
