Bringing extensive IT & clinical leadership to accelerate symplr’s healthcare operations impact

HOUSTON, June 24, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — symplr®, a leading provider of enterprise healthcare operations software, announced the appointment of Theresa Meadows, MS, RN, CHCIO, FHIMSS, FCHIME, as Chief Information Officer in Residence. A nationally recognized healthcare IT and cybersecurity leader, Meadows will work with CEO BJ Schaknowski and the executive team to provide strategic guidance on enterprise information management, innovation, and growth. She will also play a critical role in aligning symplr’s strategy with the needs of healthcare CIOs, helping to inform the evolution of the symplr Operations Platform to deliver integrated workflows and value-driven solutions across the enterprise.

Most recently, Meadows served as Chief Digital and Information Officer at Cook Children’s Health Care System in Texas, where she led clinical systems development, infrastructure, analytics, and cybersecurity across the health system. She previously held pivotal leadership roles at Ascension Healthcare, a major electronic medical record company, and in healthcare consulting, advancing the optimization of clinical and operational systems.

“Theresa is a visionary healthcare IT leader who bridges clinical insight and technical strategy,” said Schaknowski. “Her deep understanding of CIO priorities and enterprise operations will help ensure the symplr Operations Platform continues to solve real customer problems with measurable impact.”

Meadows was named 2022 CIO of the Year by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and co-chaired the Healthcare Cybersecurity Task Force for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She is also a Fellow of HIMSS and CHIME.

“symplr plays a vital role in supporting safe, effective, and efficient care delivery, and I am thrilled to join the team at such an exciting time,” said Meadows. “The symplr Operations Platform is a powerful solution to consolidate fragmented systems, standardize operations, and enable innovation. I look forward to helping shape symplr’s strategy through the lens of the CIO, ensuring we deliver the outcomes and value health systems need.”
