FIRST HEART VALVE REPLACEMENT USING NEW ROBOTIC SURGERY TECH AND ARTIFICIAL VALVE DESIGNED BY CORCYM

Corcym’s Heart Valve Combined with Tech Developed By CardioPrecision

BOSTON, Aug. 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Corcym today announced that its Perceval Plus® sutureless aortic heart valve was used in a First-Ever robotic aortic valve replacement, through a tiny incision in the neck of a patient by Marijan Koprivanac, MD, surgeon at Cleveland Clinic’s Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. The procedure represented an important milestone in surgical heart valve replacement.

This achievement shows the many benefits of integrating Corcym’s artificial heart valve with CardioPrecision’s CoreVista® Robot Enabling Platform®, in what surgeons know as an AVATAR (Advanced Videoscopic Aortic valve surgery by Transcervical Approach using Robot assistance) procedure.

“This pioneering surgical procedure strengthens our foothold in robotic surgery,” said Christian Mazzi, CEO of Corcym. “By having our sutureless valve technology be used in this way, we helped create a new option for robotic cardiac surgery.”

“Combining the artificial heart valve with this new surgical technology means patients should experience less pain and time in the hospital following heart surgery, “said Marijan Koprivanac, M.D. cardiovascular surgeon at Cleveland Clinic. “In fact, we believe that this may be one of the least invasive surgical heart valve replacement options now available.”

“Robotic-assisted surgery is widely practiced across almost every other surgical specialty,” said Fraser Sutherland, MD, CardioPrecision’s Chief Medical Officer. “Now cardiac surgeons can offer patients this least invasive option using robotics with our innovative CoreVista® platform, while ensuring their safety remains paramount.”
