Nearly 3,000 Gold Award Girl Scouts Recognized for Groundbreaking Work in Mental Wellness, STEM and More

The 2025 Gold Award Girl Scout Class addressed issues in their communities by volunteering nearly 300,000 hours and raising more than $2 million.

NEW YORK, Aug. 20, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Today, Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) proudly recognizes its 2025 Gold Award Girl Scout Class. The Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting, provides girls with the opportunity to delve deep into their passions, flex their problem-solving muscles, stand up for what they believe in, inspire others and make a difference. This year’s class is comprised of change-makers who identified pressing issues within their respective communities and took action, dedicating countless hours, effort and resources to developing sustainable solutions.

The 2025 Gold Award Class led projects addressing a wide range of civic-minded issues, including mental wellness, sustainability, STEM and more. Collectively, nearly 3,000 Girl Scouts devoted more than 287,000 hours and invested more than $2 million implementing their solutions to address critical community challenges, inspiring initiatives that advance lasting, meaningful change.

“The 2025 Gold Award Class clearly demonstrates what it means to drive lasting change in communities,” said GSUSA CEO Bonnie Barczykowski. “Gold Award Girl Scouts harness the skills they’ve developed throughout their Girl Scout journey and prove that making a big impact begins with individual action.”

Earning the Gold Award requires an admirable level of commitment, focus and drive. Girl Scouts who take on the challenge dedicate 80+ hours to developing a project that addresses a root cause they are passionate about that’s of national and/or global relevance. After identifying their cause, Girl Scouts conduct research, assemble a team of volunteers to support their journey and create a holistic plan to execute, which must be presented for approval. Through taking action and completing their projects, Gold Award Girl Scouts not only demonstrate leadership by creating sustainable and measurable impact but also gain a myriad of leadership skills along the way, including project management, problem solving, community building and budgeting. Additionally, Girl Scouts that earn this award earn scholarships, build their networks and enlist at a higher pay grade when they join the military.

This year, Girl Scouts of the USA proudly awarded scholarships to 110 remarkable Gold Award Girl Scouts across the Movement. These scholarships were made possible thanks to the generous support of DHL Supply Chain, the Kappa Delta Foundation and National Board members Robyn Ratcliffe Manzini, Aldo Manzini, Erika Rottenberg and Diane Tipton, as well as GSUSA funding.
