Taiwan Showcases Smart Healthcare Breakthroughs at Taiwan Expo USA 2025

DALLAS, Aug. 31, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — At Taiwan Expo USA 2025 in Dallas, the Smart Healthcare Pavilion, organized by the International Trade Administration (TITA) and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), spotlighted Taiwan’s global rise in digital health and AI-powered medicine through innovations from leading hospitals and startups, as reported by GeneOnline.

Taichung Veterans General Hospital (TCVGH), ranked in Newsweek’s World’s Best Smart Hospitals 2025, presented TAIMedImg PHDS, a patented ECG-based platform predicting pulmonary hypertension without invasive testing, and VeriOsteo OP, an AI tool that detects bone mineral density issues from chest X-rays to generate T-scores and guide referrals. TCVGH highlighted its vision of “3 Ps”—personalized, preventive, and predictive medicine—while seeking partnerships with hospital systems, pharmaceutical firms, and technology companies to expand clinical adoption.

Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkou has developed several exciting AI models and systems. Their digital pathology platform has increased diagnostic sensitivity to 96%, earning high confidence from pathologists. They also have ECG AI for predicting left ventricle dysfunction and atrial fibrillation, crucial for preventing strokes. In addition, an AI-powered aortic dissection detection software rapidly classifies cases into Type A or Type B and alerts physicians, shortening the time to emergency intervention and improving survival.

Taiwanese startups further showcased transformative technologies. Lixel Inc. demonstrated a glasses-free 3D and air-touch visualization system that projects anatomical structures mid-air using proprietary AI-powered DICOM processing, with applications in education, surgery, and telemedicine. V5med Inc. leveraged semiconductor imaging expertise to build an AI platform that enhances low-dose CT lung cancer screening while detecting COPD and fibrosis, aiming to shift AI from diagnosis toward prediction and prevention. Shennona Co., Ltd. launched its OpenShoulder rehabilitation system, combining AR-based software, a smart shoulder wheel, and resistance bands to support recovery from injury and surgery. Pilot programs in Taiwan have shown strong adoption among therapists and patients, and the company is now seeking U.S. partners to scale into home rehabilitation.

Together, these hospital-driven initiatives and entrepreneurial innovations underscore Taiwan’s ambition to be a global partner in smart healthcare, advancing clinically validated AI, immersive medical technologies, and cross-border collaboration [Ad by TITA]
