Milliman MedInsight ACO clients achieve $658 million in savings, outperforming national averages in the 2024 Medicare Shared Savings Program

SEATTLE, Oct. 2, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Milliman MedInsight® (MedInsight), a leading healthcare data and analytics division of Milliman, announced that its Accountable Care Organization (ACO) clients delivered exceptional results in the 2024 Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP), according to preliminary data released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

In 2024, MedInsight ACO clients collectively generated $658 million in shared savings, reflecting performance that exceeded national averages across multiple measures, including savings rates, per-beneficiary savings, and year-over-year improvement. These results highlight our clients’ strong performance and underscore how advanced analytics and data-driven strategies can support success in value-based care models.

Key highlights from the 2024 MSSP results for MedInsight ACO clients:

  • Higher savings rate than the national average: 80% of MedInsight ACO clients (33 of 41) earned shared savings, compared with 75% of all participating ACOs nationally (358 of 476).
  • Greater per-beneficiary savings: $509 per beneficiary — 29% higher than the national average of $394.
  • Stronger year-over-year improvement: 63% of MedInsight ACO clients increased their earned savings compared to 2023, versus 53% of all returning ACOs nationwide.

“The exceptional performance of our ACO clients in the 2024 Medicare Shared Savings Program — achieving $658 million in shared savings and outperforming national benchmarks across key measures — demonstrates the power of combining advanced analytics with deep industry expertise to drive measurable improvements in quality, efficiency, and patient outcomes,” said Meghan Fetherston, Chief Client Officer at MedInsight. “Our commitment remains steadfast — to equip our clients with the insights and tools they need to thrive in value-based care.”

The MSSP, now in its eighth consecutive year of generating overall program savings, is designed to encourage collaboration among healthcare providers to improve quality of care, enhance patient experience, and reduce unnecessary spending for Medicare beneficiaries.

“These results illustrate how our ACO clients are leveraging data-driven strategies and deep expertise in value-based care to excel in the Medicare Shared Savings Program,” said Francesca Hammerstrom, General Manager, Value-Based Care at MedInsight. “By combining timely, reliable data with actionable insights, they are finding new ways to improve patient outcomes and manage costs, and we remain committed to equipping them with the tools they need to succeed.”

Through its industry-leading Value-Based Care (VBC) Platform, MedInsight enables ACOs to leverage timely, reliable data to identify opportunities for quality improvement and cost efficiency. Over the past three years, the company has made significant investments in enhancing this platform by adding advanced features such as clinical data integration, predictive modeling, and user-friendly dashboards. These innovations help healthcare organizations address increasingly complex challenges, enabling ACO clients to achieve and sustain success in value-based care arrangements.
