Bruin Biometrics Announces Program to Help Providers Access Reimbursement for Pressure Injuries Detected on Admission

CMS guidelines assume that if a pressure injury was not documented as POA, it likely occurred during the hospital stay, making it a hospital-acquired condition and therefore non-reimbursable, and subject to penalties. This code recognizes the scanner’s use in measuring and monitoring sub-epidermal moisture (SEM) for pressure injury assessment, proving if there was a pressure injury upon admittance. In combination with the SEM POA test, the code is a valuable tool for providers seeking reimbursement for the care they properly provide for the prevention and management of pressure injuries detected on admission.
