Cerner Awards Meducation® with Program Member Adoption Award at Annual Conference

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#DigitalHealth–First Databank, Inc. (FDB), the leading provider of drug and medical device knowledge that helps healthcare professionals make precise decisions, announced today that its medication adherence solution, Meducation, received the first-ever Cerner Open Developer Experience (code) Program Member Adoption Award during this year’s Cerner Health Conference in Kansas City. The award was designed to give recognition to third-party applications that epitomize market savvy discovery and development of solutions that meet real health system client needs.

The award-winning Meducation solution delivers medication instructions for all individuals, but especially those considered to be high risk due to low health literacy, poor vision or language barriers. It helps providers generate a one-stop location for patient-specific medication instructions, administration checklists, simplified calendar views and explanatory videos for medications that require some skill for self-administration (e.g. inhalers, self-injectors, eye drops).

In the award category, Meducation took top honors by meeting all the following criteria:

  • Solution development excellence as evidenced by validation for inclusion in Cerner’s code App Gallery;
  • Exceeded sales and adoption objectives through multiple client sales, implementations, and robust end user adoption;
  • Documented success with Cerner client health system.

“Meducation is designed to make understanding medication plans intuitive and simple for patients, which is why our clients continue to adopt and expand their use of the solution,” said Matt Obenhaus, Director, Open Developer Experience, Cerner. “Medication adherence is critical for clinicians to make sure their patients get healthy and stay healthy. We’re proud to award Meducation the code Program Member Adoption Award and are excited to watch it continue to solve this challenge for our clients.”

Katie Bailey, Product Manager, First Databank, said FDB is thrilled to accept this first-ever Cerner award for Meducation. “Working with the Cerner team is the embodiment of true alignment because both companies have a shared vision to bring state-of-the-art innovative solutions to their end users that truly enhance patient care and engagement,” Bailey said.

Meducation is a cloud-based solution that is accessible to healthcare providers within their clinical workflow through integration with their electronic health record (EHR) or pharmacy system. The solution is available to Cerner clients through the company’s code App Gallery, which supports outside apps to be embedded in the EHR workflow through the HL7® Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR®) standard. Also integrated with a variety of major information system vendors, Meducation is licensed to hospitals, health systems, clinics and pharmacies across the United States and has been proven to help increase hospital patient satisfaction scores, reduce readmission rates, and enhance financial performance.
