With the United States spending $450 billion annually on medication management,1 health systems increasingly need to focus on efficient delivery of healthcare in order to control costs, which has elevated the strategic importance of medication management. To support this objective, Omnicell is building on its vision of an Autonomous Pharmacy in which manual, error-prone activities are replaced by efficient, automated processes—ideally with zero errors. Health systems like Stormont Vail Health are leveraging Omnicell’s automated medication management infrastructure to help improve patient care, reduce errors, enhance safety, and identify new opportunities for growth.

Stormont Vail is implementing Omnicell’s i.v.STATIONTM Non-hazardous Compounding Robots to drive improvements in their sterile compounding operation. By fully automating the IV compounding process, i.v.STATION helps hospitals and health systems to further enhance patient safety, improve therapy, reduce cost, and facilitate compliance in the IV room.

“We are continually looking for opportunities to improve processes that support delivery of the best care for our patients,” said Sridevi Donepudi, MD, vice president and chief medical quality officer. “By leveraging IV automation for sterile compounding, we can drive down costs and help ensure the safest approach to IV preparation.”

Omnicell’s XT Series Automated Medication Dispensing Cabinets will also be installed at Stormont Vail Health to help improve workflow efficiency for both nursing and pharmacy while helping to increase medication accountability and patient safety.

“We’re committed to strategic partnerships with customers like Stormont Vail Health to deliver on our vision of an autonomous approach to medication management,” said Scott Seidelmann, executive vice president and chief commercial officer at Omnicell. “Our automation solutions and services will support their needs today, and are designed to grow as healthcare challenges continue to evolve.”
