Stormont Vail Health Partners with Omnicell to Enhance Medication Management Strategy
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., March 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Omnicell, Inc. (NASDAQ: OMCL) today announced that Stormont Vail Health has selected Omnicell’s automated medication management platform to help enhance safety and efficiency in the central pharmacy and patient care areas. The health system will be implementing IV robotics to support an in-house sterile compounding operation, as well as Omnicell® XT Series Automated Dispensing Cabinets to streamline workflows in patient care areas.
With the United States spending $450 billion annually on medication management,1 health systems increasingly need to focus on efficient delivery of healthcare in order to control costs, which has elevated the strategic importance of medication management. Stormont Vail is implementing Omnicell’s i.v.STATIONTM Non-hazardous Compounding Robots to drive improvements in their sterile compounding operation. By fully automating the IV compounding process, i.v.STATION helps hospitals and health systems to further enhance patient safety, improve therapy, reduce cost, and facilitate compliance in the IV room.
