IRVINE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Viseon, Inc. announces the first clinical use of the Voyant Lateral System, a visualization technology to enable real-time imaging during minimally invasive lateral lumbar spine surgery. The system provides the surgeon with intraoperative visualization allowing an accurate, precise and unobstructed view of the operative field offering optimized procedural workflow. The device is the second in the Voyant family and is a single-use disposable device that projects the operative field in real time to a high definition monitor in the operating room. Pete Davis, Viseon Chief Operating Officer stated, “The Voyant Lateral System addresses the unmet clinical need for better and shared visualization during lumbar lateral spine surgery. This low-profile device can accommodate existing surgical instruments and techniques and does not obstruct the operative field. The imager has surgeon-controlled focus and digital image manipulation features that provide the user with visualization of the surgical field never before available.”

This new technology can transform procedure adoption by facilitating surgeon to surgeon training and proctoring.

Dr. Neel Anand, Professor of Orthopedics at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA performed the first multi-level lateral lumbar surgery and stated, “The Viseon Voyant Lateral System provided excellent visualization, was easy to use and did not interfere with my OLIF surgical techniques. The system visibility is better than existing visualization methods with unbelievable clarity, ability to see anatomical structures and the potential to reduce patient complications. The teachability it offers through surgeon interaction will lead to ultimate adoption of the system and procedural expansion.”
