As a champion of internal and family medicine, Dobson’s active role in the development of health policy will help shape future vision of Medical Economics®

CRANBURY, N.J.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#FamilyMedicineMedical Economics®, a multimedia platform that provides resources for physicians that include practice management tips, health technology and expert voices, is excited to welcome L. Allen Dobson Jr., MD, FAAFP, as editor-in-chief.

“Dobson’s focus on family and internal medicine in managing health care quality, as a clinical provider and policy adviser, has been the cornerstone of his distinguished career,” said Mike Hennessy Jr., president and CEO of MJH Life Sciences™. “We look forward to Dobson’s guidance as we continue to strive to provide the best content for physicians so they can succeed as both caregivers and businesspeople.”

Dobson has been practicing family medicine for over 40 years in his home state of North Carolina, where he serves as an adjunct clinical professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to his clinical roles, Dobson is active in the development of health policy and is a frequent adviser to the National Governors Association.

Formerly, Dobson served as the president and CEO of Community Care of North Carolina and played a leading role in forming the Community Care Physician Network (CCPN). As a physician-led, clinically integrated network, CCPN provides practices with aligned access to over 3,000 clinicians across the North Carolina focused on delivering effective primary care.

“Dobson brings with him a unique skill set that aligns seamlessly with Medical Economics®’ focus as a business resource for office-based physicians,” said Chris Mazzolini, Medical Economics®’ editorial director. “In catering our content to the essential nonclinical constituents of practice operation, we will continue to serve as the authority resource on practice management for physicians.”

Dobson has also served as a visiting scholar at the Brookings Institute’s Center for Health Reform, and presented provider reform ideas at meetings at the White House, National Institutes of Medicine and Congress.
