Longevity Biotech Report forecasts a $617bn market by 2045.
LONDON, Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Global investment in longevity biotech reached a record $18.4bn in 2025, up from $4.7bn in 2024, with $12.1bn already invested in 2026, according to a new report from Longevity.Technology.
The report argues that the longevity biotech market will ultimately provide the route for gerotherapeutic interventions to enter mainstream healthcare to prevent and reverse age-related disease. It predicts gerotherapeutics – drugs designed to impact multiple age-related diseases at once – will win their first regulatory approval within a decade.
This is already happening. In the randomised SELECT trial, GLP-1 drug semaglutide cut heart attack, stroke and cardiovascular death by 20% versus placebo in patients with obesity and heart disease, a benefit now approved by regulators in the UK.
“Rather than regulators approving a drug to ‘treat aging’, therapies will keep arriving the other way round: approved first for a recognized disease, then shown to deliver broader gerotherapeutic benefits tied to mitigating the hallmarks of aging,” said Phil Newman, founder and CEO of Longevity.Technology. “This isn’t hype chasing capital, it is capital following the science. In Washington regulators are getting involved and we’re seeing the machinery of a serious industry turning.”
Key findings
Big Pharma is buying-in. Eli Lilly backed NewLimit’s $435 million Series C in June 2026, which valued the epigenetic reprogramming company at $3.1 billion. In July 2026, Takeda committed approximately $60 million in near-term payments for Insilico Medicine’s Pharma.AI platform, in a deal worth up to $600 million. And Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly spokespeople have already described their GLP-1 blockbusters as longevity therapeutics.
“Aging is not a single disease; its underlying biological processes contribute to many chronic conditions,” said Dr. Dominik Duscher, physician-scientist and President and CEO of MuseCell Innovations. “Regenerative cell platforms are particularly compelling because one well-characterized technology can be investigated across multiple indications, while still requiring rigorous clinical evidence for each. This report helps quantify the clinical and commercial potential of that approach.”
