TempDev Moves Quality Reporting Into the Exam Room with Rollout of a Rebuilt Quality Measures Dashboard
Relaunched NextGen® Enterprise tool covers HEDIS, MIPS, UDS and GPRA measures in one place, arriving as CMS raises the bar on 2027 Star Ratings
Key Takeaways:
- TempDev relaunched its Quality Measures Dashboard, a NextGen® Enterprise template suite with an entirely redesigned interface that makes it easier for physicians to configure, review, and act on quality data without leaving the screen.
- The dashboard lands days before Medicare open enrollment opens Oct. 15, when the HEDIS performance driving 2027 Star Ratings and payer contracts are being decided visit-by-visit.
- HEDIS, MIPS, UDS and GPRA measures run in the same dashboard, so practices reporting into multiple programs aren’t reconciling them across separate systems.
MIAMI, Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — TempDev today relaunched its Quality Measures Dashboard for NextGen® Enterprise, rebuilt from the interface up for faster configuration and review, and updated for current Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS), Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), Uniform Data System (UDS) and Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA) measurement specifications.
Shaped by client sessions and years of TempDev builds inside health systems tracking these measures, the relaunched dashboard ships with more measures out of the box, including dental sealant, timeliness of prenatal care, postpartum care, HIV screening and depression remission at 12 months, with adult immunization tracking now reaching past influenza and pneumococcal to Td/Tdap, zoster, hepatitis B and COVID-19. Quality leads configure measure age ranges and value sets themselves in the rebuilt interface, while a new exclusion status supports measure review and validation.
The timing of these changes are deliberate. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released stricter thresholds for the 2027 Medicare Advantage Star Ratings in early September, and roughly half became harder to meet, according to a recent Newton Smith Group analysis. For the independent practice associations (IPAs), accountable care organizations (ACOs) and multi-specialty groups carrying risk on those numbers, next year’s score is being set right now. One appointment at a time.
“Quality teams don’t have a data problem. They have a timing problem,” said Laura Miller, Founder and CEO of TempDev. “By the time a gap shows up in a quarterly report, the patient has gone home and the visit is over. We rebuilt this dashboard so the gap shows up while there’s still something a physician can do about it. Not a list to work later. The gap, the patient, and the action, in the same place.”
Q&A on Quality Measures Dashboard
What does this mean for health systems, IPAs and community health centers?
Most quality reporting tools are rear-view mirrors. They report what a practice missed after the period closes, when the only option left is phone outreach. A care coordinator working an April gap list for January visits is doing administrative cleanup, not improving care.
TempDev built its dashboard on the opposite premise: put the open gap in front of the physician during the encounter, when closing it costs a minute instead of a month of outreach. The rebuilt logic also goes past documentation, flagging when a BMI result falls outside standard limits and a follow-up plan is required, during the visit rather than in a retrospective audit.
One multi-specialty IPA that implemented the original dashboard reported closing all open gaps in care in an average of 1.5 minutes per patient, and improved on 62 HEDIS and Stars measures in the first year, showing the effectiveness of implementing these dashboards.
PromiseCare Medical Group, a multispecialty system with 52 providers and 37 healthcare practices across California, was an early adopter of the relaunched version.
“Our company relies heavily on the Quality Dashboard because it is intuitive and easy to use,” said Ashley Area, NextGen Trainer at PromiseCare. “It enables our providers and medical assistants to complete health maintenance tasks quickly and accurately, provides clear guidance on documentation requirements, and directs users to the appropriate section to document care or order a test. By supporting accurate chart documentation for audits and helping patients stay on track with their annual healthcare needs, the Quality Dashboard has contributed to improved quality measure scores.”
How does this compare to existing quality reporting tools?
Few quality measurement tools cover all four programs in one dashboard. Vendors tend to build for HEDIS and MIPS, the measure sets that drive the most volume. Federally qualified health centers reporting UDS and tribal and Indian Health Service sites reporting GPRA are typically left to build workarounds or buy a second platform. TempDev clients run those measures in the same dashboard.
Control is the other difference. Age ranges, value sets and grid organization now sit in the configuration screens, handled not by a developer, but by those who own quality and drive direct patient care.
That control matters more as the reporting framework itself shifts. CMS is steering clinicians toward MIPS Value Pathways, specialty and condition-focused measure sets that narrow what each clinician reports on, and proposed retiring traditional MIPS after the 2028 performance year. Practices that can reshape measure sets without rebuilding their quality infrastructure will carry their performance into the new framework without disruption.
“Specs get retired, thresholds get tighter, payers add their own requirements, and now MVPs are about to completely redraw what each specialty reports on,” Miller said “A dashboard you configure once and never touch is obsolete in twelve months. The goal was to help teams keep up without making quality reporting feel like a second job.”
What happens next?
The relaunched dashboard is available now, with existing TempDev clients already implementing the new interface. Implementations starting this quarter position practices to act on open gaps before the Dec. 31 close of the 2026 performance year.
