GHX Names Top vibeGHX Ideas as Healthcare Supply Chain Teams Turn Everyday Workflow Challenges into Working AI Prototypes
Judges’ Choice winners selected from customer submissions; select winners will have the opportunity to present their ideas at GHX Summit 2027
DENVER, Oct. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX), a leading platform for smarter, more resilient supply chains, today announced the three Judges’ Choice winners of vibeGHX, an industry-wide coding event where providers, suppliers and cross-functional healthcare leaders brought real workflow challenges and built tangible solution concepts using AI-powered vibe coding. Seventy-seven organizations took part in what marks the first time in industry history that providers and suppliers have come together in this way, not just to talk about what is broken, but to start building solutions that leverage AI-powered tools.
Held virtually September 22–25, 2026, vibeGHX asked a simple question: if teams could redesign their hardest workflows from scratch, what would they build? Participants from supply chain, clinical operations, finance and IT described the outcomes they wanted in plain language and used AI-powered development tools to help create interactive prototypes, with no coding experience required. GHX product experts supported teams throughout the four days.
VibeGHX was first announced at GHX Summit in May 2026 alongside GHX’s new AI-powered orchestration layer, as part of a broader effort to reduce workflow debt – the rework, exception chasing and manual reconciliation that teams carry every day.
“VibeGHX showed what happens when the people who live the complexity are given the tools to redesign it,” said Tina Vatanka Murphy, President and CEO of GHX. “In four days, these teams used AI tools to build working answers to problems the industry has worked around for years. This is exactly the community-built future we set out to create.”
The Judges’ Choice winners
A panel of GHX executives reviewed submissions against criteria such as use case, solution benefits, innovativeness and viability. Two ideas tied for the top spot, one from a provider and one from a supplier, both focused on resolving Perfect Order exceptions. The top ideas selected by the panel are:
- JUDGES’ CHOICE #1 (Tie): Perfect Order Exception Resolution Workbench, Javier Hernandez, Project Manager, Texas Children’s Hospital: From the provider side of the challenge, this idea aims to turn recurring order exceptions into an AI-guided resolution workflow, helping teams focus on what matters most and work with trading partners to close issues faster.
- JUDGES’ CHOICE #1 (Tie): Exception Console, Bob Polly, Customer Service Account Manager, Cook Medical: Built for the supplier side of the challenge, this idea uses AI to help give supplier account managers a clearer, prioritized view of the recurring issues affecting each health system.
- JUDGES’ CHOICE #2: Contract Clarifier, Ashley Bain, E-commerce Specialist, MedStar Health: This idea uses AI to better explain price discrepancies and guide teams to the fix.
- JUDGES’ CHOICE #3: Supply Risk Monitor, Matthew Warren, Buyer, UNC Health: This idea is based on giving buyers a single view of supply disruptions, prioritized by urgency, with suggested next steps to help keep products available for patient care.
“This was a tough decision with so many amazing submissions,” said Chris Luoma, Chief Strategy Officer, GHX. “These ideas rose to the top for their focus on removing workflow debt from the healthcare supply chain, the use of AI to guide action and the value delivered not only to one organization but across trading partner relationships.”
What the community brought to the table
Behind every submission was a real workflow pain point: a manual workaround, a disconnected process, a time-consuming step that persists simply because no one has had the time or tools to rethink it.
Healthcare supply chains operate amid constant change, at a rate with which teams cannot fully keep pace. The ideas participants built centered on a few broad goals: reduce manual effort, resolve issues faster and anticipate problems before they affect patient care.
A common thread ran through nearly every concept: teams want AI tools to help them move from reacting to anticipating, with people firmly in control of the outcome.
Prototypes and problem statements from vibeGHX will be shared with GHX teams and could inform future GHX product functionality.
“Before this event, I had never participated in a hackathon or a vibe-coding competition,” said Javier Hernandez, Project Manager, Texas Children’s Hospital. “I came in with an understanding of how to work with AI and applied everything I knew to a challenge we experience day in and day out. I intentionally focused less on adding features for the sake of appearance and more on building something useful, practical, and grounded in a real workflow.”
Select winning teams will have the opportunity to present their ideas live at GHX Summit 2027 in Arlington, TX in May 2027. Healthcare supply chain leaders who want to be part of what comes next should watch for early registration for GHX Summit 2027, opening in the coming weeks.
